quest to share the WIAA Badger North Conference title.

After holding leads of 1-0 and 2-1 at the Ice Pond in Waunakee Thursday night, the Eagles ultimately fell 3-2 to the host Waunakee Warriors who claimed the title outright with the win.

Senior Camden Desroches notched the lone goal of the opening period unassisted and the Eagles outshot the Warriors 13-5 through the opening 17-minutes.

The Warriors rallied to tie the game 8:05 into the second with a goal from sophomore Isaac Nett, but the Eagles were in front again just 58 seconds later when sophomore Nick Mast jammed in a rebound of a shot by senior Willy Hanson. The hosts tied it once again about three minutes later as junior Drew Christianson found the mark.

Teams were all even with a period to go and the only goal of the final period came from junior Danny Reiswith a little more than 11 minutes to play.

Senior goaltender Jordan O’Connor turned in some big stops for the Eagles as did Warriors’ senior netminder Hunter Beck and his squad limited the Eagles to mostly outside, single shot chances down the stretch.

The Eagles sit at 13-3-1, with two of those defeats against the Warriors. They will wrap up the regular season with five straight home games at SPARC, beginning, against Beloit Memorial Purple Knights Friday at 7 p.m. and Black River Falls Tigers Saturday at 1 p.m.

The DeForst Norskies will be in on Tuesday to wrap up the conference schedule and the Eagles have also scheduled games against Stoughton Vikings on Feb. 13 and Middleton Cardinals Feb. 15.
