The Dells Ducks junior hockey team wrapped up a set of exhibition matches in Detroit over the weekend and returned home Sunday night, ready to get on with the season.
The weekend tests were tough, but valuable said Head Coach Shaun Falzone (see video interview below), in particular for the rookies who got their eyes open to how fast and physical the junior game is.
Some players met with the trainer on Monday with minor injuries and the team held its first regular season game week meeting on what was otherwise a recovery day.
Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday practices will prepare the Ducks for its first regular season opponent, the Rum River Mallards who will visit on Friday and Saturday.
This will be the first of eight straight home games to open the regular season for the Ducks. The following weekend the Chicago Cougars from the Midwest-East Division will be in town followed by the Minnesota Moose and Minnesota Blue Ox in October.
A note to fans – start times for Ducks’ home games this season have been changed from 7 to 7:30 p.m. That means warm-ups would start at 7.
