Dylan Conroy’s powerplay goal early in the final period lifted the RWD junior varsity Cheavers to a 3-2 edge in its first of two regular season meetings with the Madison Edgewood Crusaders Tuesday (Dec. 22) at Reedsburg Area Community Arena (RACA).
Abe Thompson’s goal had the Crusaders on the board just past the five-minute mark of the opening period but The Cheavers owned a 2-1 lead by the end of the period with goals from sophomores Conner Putz and Caleb Eastman.
Freshman Mark Othmer, sophomore Spencer Garbacz and Conroy, a junior, picked up assists for RWD.
After a scoreless middle period, the Crusaders rallied back to tie it on a Nick Hartman goal, setting the stage for Conroy who took a feed from junior Carter Scully.
In goal, the work was split evenly, senior Brendan Karas and junior Gary Wiles splitting the work evenly and both beaten just once on 10 shots.
