Baraboo/Portage varsity Thunderbirds hockey team fell to 0-2 on the season with a 4-0 defeat in Mosinee against the Mosinee High School varsity hockey team Tuesday night.
The game winner came late in the opening period and the home team added one more in the middle period before finally putting the game away with two more in the final period.
Caden Schmirler scored the game winner and the final goal for Mosinee.
Andrew Schaetzl turned in a 23-save performance in goal for the Thunderbirds.
Next up for the 1-1-0 Thunderbirds is a home game at Pierce Park Pavilion against the Sauk Prairie Eagles who have yet to play this season after the team’s scheduled season opener was postponed at RACA Tuesday night.
